Day 141
09 October 2009
This is the town hall, in Swanage. Parts of the town are made from bits and bobs taken from London. George Burt used unwanted street furniture, and buildings as ballast for ships coming back from London having delivered Purbeck stone for new building work to take place.
The frontage of the town hall was once the front of the mercers hall in Cheapside, erected in 1670. George Burt erected the town hall in 1882.
