Strange halo-effect...?

Today, 15 months after moving into our house, and 11 months of dust, workmen, planning, lost weekends and hard graft, we have a kitchen. I can't stop smiling, each time I walk into the room. For both of us, the moment we felt like something momentous was happening was when John Wood, the electrician, connected the power to the lighting, and suddenly we had light.

There is still a bit of work to do, but to be able to use the space that was once 4 rooms in one, derelict and unused for perhaps 20 years, felt suddenly full of life and happy. Our Christmas present to eachother, and to our long-suffering house!
