Blue, Orange, and Green

Day 135
03 October 2009
I've been spoilt for choice with photo opportunities, today. So I've put lots of them into today's post!
The blues festival continues, today, although I didn't get to see/hear a lot of it, for one reason and another. I did get to do a quick run to the different pubs to listen for a bit, but I'd have loved to have sat down with something containing alcohol, and just rested awhile!

This afternoon, the Pumpkin Festival took place, up at the Square and Compass, in Worth Matravers. The pub was a vibrant mix of orange-ness, live music, pints, pasties and pumpkin soup, and some colourful characters. It was also cold. My son had had enough after an hour or so, and unfortunately it meant that we had to go before he turned to ice or imploded with boredom. This also meant we didn't get to find out how heavy the largest pumpkin was!

This fine specimen is called Slappercrow!

There were some huge pumpkins. What beauties! Where are the mice and the horses?

This morning I helped out for a short while helping the Education Swanage group talk to locals outside the C0-Op about the opportunity to have a secondary school in Swanage. There was a lot of positive support from young and old in the town.
There was a petition to sign, for anyone who feels that Swanage should have a secondary school.
The last of the drop-in sessions is at Swanage middle School on Monday, between 3-6pm. If you're local, and you want to talk to DCC councillors, come along. It will be the last chance to have a say in your community's future.

  1. Loving the pumpkins & squash - now just need inspiration for what to make with the ones I bought last week!

  2. pumpkin soup - make it hot and spicy with chilli powder and cumin, add a can of coconut milk, some fresh coriander, and some garlic bread. Hmmmm. I want some, now!
