Bonnet

Day 310
28 March 2010
Today has been a bit of a challenge. I decided to take the kids to church in an attempt to teach that Easter is not just about the eggs and the chocolate, but that it's a religious festival.
On the way we saw a procession from the church, carrying palm fronds and singing as they walked along the road.
I had forgotten that the Palm Sunday service is longer than usual, but to their credit, the kids stayed quiet and good for most of it. If you want to teach your kids how to sit still and be quiet, take them to church. It's a kill or cure situation!
This afternoon we made an Easter bonnet for school, which I found particularly challenging, because trying to supervise a 5 year old, doing the tricky bits, and instructing on what to do next proved...interesting, especially whilst trying to keep a 14 month-old interested in other things without getting restless or clingy. It was a tense hour! But the hat looks good: three chicks hiding out in the grass, with three ladybirds crawling around the dew drops (silver glitter). She did a mighty fine job!
