Day 289
07 March 2010

We all decided that, after dropping lots of hints, followed by a chat, it was time the stabilisers were removed from my daughter's bike. We explained, demonstrated, procrastinated, anticipated, and finally, carried out her first attempt to ride without them. We set down rules: 1.Don't be scared; 2.Be brave; 3.KEEP PEDALING! 4.Have fun. Oh, and finally: 5.Don't worry about falling off.

Although she seemed very pleased with herself, and rightly so, she asked for the stabilisers to be screwed back on again at the end. It took a lot of persuasion, discussion and a reward at the end of the week if she continued to practice without them every day, before she agreed that they would not be replaced.
I am very proud of her, clever little thing!
