First Day at School

Day 109
07 September 2009

At 6.30 this morning we were woken by an excited little voice, saying, "Can I get dressed, now?"
Normally, it takes a very long time to get our daughter dressed into anything. There are, quite often, long and drawn out tantrums over getting dressed or undressed. Today, however she was only too happy to get ready.
For her first day at school.
We managed to get ready and out of the door to walk to school on time, arrived at school on time, despite tripping over on the way and grazing a finger. During the holidays the bramble bushes had overgrown along the paths leading to the school, but the dog mess was still there. A freshly laid, massive dollop, right in the middle of the path. Lovely. I do wonder why dog owners can't/won't clear up their dog's mess. To me, if you can bend down to put a lead on the collar, you can bend down to pick up poop. If you can't, then you should have fish as pets, instead.
Anyway...
...we got to school on time. All of the other new little ones were there, looking immaculate in their brand new, clean, slightly big uniforms. Our daughter put her coat on her peg, her book bag in her tray, her name up on the wall, and then sat down to play with some playdough. And then we said goodbye, and that was it. Job done!
I am so excited for her, and for what lays ahead of her. I almost want to be 5 again...
